Daniel Ramirez who was only six years old did not survive his battle against paralysis. Doctors did not manage to reveal which was the cause of the child’s disease. This mysterious disease had ended the life of an innocent being who was still hoping. The death of this little boy from Bellingham shocked a lot of people. His was not a singular case.

Other eight children were kept under observation in the Seattle Children’s Hospital. The Washington State Department has asserted that the unexpected paralysis impaired movement in one arm and one leg, or even all four members. These terrible cases are still under the attentive investigation of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other health departments.
The medical staff is still searching for a cause that generated this disease in children from four different counties, with ages between three and fourteen years old. These innocent children who should enjoy their childhood are trapped in a hospital, being unable to move or play.
This is a disaster which lacks a culprit. Health officials have stated that they do not have yet a concrete result that may point towards a solution. This neurological disease remains a mystery. Doctors are struggling to determine whether all these children suffer from acute flaccid myelitis (AFM).
The dreadful paralysis attacked the neurological system of a lot of children. Two of them came from Whatcom County, including Bellingham. One of the two was a six-year-old little boy called Daniel Ramirez. He was brought to the hospital on October 15. His symptoms were unintelligible speech, drooling, incontinence and severe pain in his leg.
His parents, Jose Ramirez and Marijo De Guzman thought that their child only has a stomachache. After a short while, the dreadful virus had attacked the neurological system of the boy. Daniel’s state of health was becoming even worse. Jessica Marx, his mother’s friend, has claimed that he was kept on ventilation until October 31.
On October 31, state officials have revealed that Daniel’s case was among other eight cases suspected of AFM. Five of these children were released from the hospital whereas two of them are still under medical attention. Unfortunately, Daniel was pronounced dead on October 31. All eight children suffered from movement impairments.
