A large number of giant snowballs were found in Siberia. The extraordinary amount of such objects appeared in Nydia, Russia, on a beach. Meteorologists have looked at this event as representing signs of too much snow which has fallen throughout the US.
- Locals were amazed when they discovered giant snowballs on a Russian beach.
- The sea-rolled snowballs were considered a natural event.
These strange snowballs have occurred last October too. Then, Russian authorities have argued that they represent the result of the high level of the Gulf of Ob which transformed into ice when turning to the shore. As the water withdrew, the ice balls got rolled back and forth by the waves developing a large number of giant snowballs.
This fantastic view was photographed hundreds of times by the locals who unveiled the sea rolled snowballs near Nyda, Russia, along with the Siberian coast. The landscape looked as if Santa Clause has spilled his magical bag full of snowballs. All these giant snowballs seem to be very well defined.
Ekaterina Chernykh, who is one of the locals who photographed the view, has argued that the sizes of these ice balls vary between a tennis ball to basketball. She also claimed that this kind of event has never occurred before and that this does not represent a typical occurrence in Nyda.
Locals were expressing their surprise when this peculiar event has taken place, and they started recording it by filming or taking pictures of it. Some of the residents did not believe the occurrence until they have reached the place to check for themselves.
What is indeed significant is the fact this is the first time this happened and that there was not enough snow for them to form. The movements of the waves of the water going back and forth had probably contributed to the formation of the ice balls.
Valery Akulov, who is an old resident of this area, just like Chernykh, has asserted that she had never witnessed such a marvelous occasion. The Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute (AARI) has claimed that this rare phenomenon it is natural, although it is not common.
They have also given an accurate explanation of the formation of the giant snowballs. The grease ice produced first. Then, after the intervention of the temperatures, the outlines of the coast and the wind, they have all contributed to the spectacular creation of giant snowballs.
