Steep Hill Hawaii Lab from Honolulu has finally received a certification to perform testing on cannabis and study its medical uses. This is great news for the community, who has been waiting to benefit from this great method of treatment, as well as for many companies waiting to commercialize medical marijuana.
Tai Cheng is the COO of Aloha Green, a medical marijuana dispensary who has already been opened. However, it wasn’t allowed to sell cannabis and, instead, lost thousands of dollars on paying rent and salaries for the employees without making any profit.
“We are one step closer to providing long-awaited medicine to our community.”
Although testing on medical marijuana will start soon, it will still take a while until Aloha Green starts selling the products. After the testing is finished, they will still have to pass an inspection from the health department.
Medical marijuana has been legal in Hawaii since 2000, but dispensaries weren’t allowed to sell it. People either had to grow their own plants or find someone to offer them the products. Dispensaries were legalized in 2015, and people expected them to start their business last year.
After a lot of efforts, they finally managed to allow a laboratory to perform all the necessary testing on medical marijuana. This will bring many benefits to the industry, and dispensaries can finally start their business.
