Sony’s PlayStation has been hit by a hack attack. After the hack attack, users were not able to access Sony’s online PlayStation store. Sony’s PlayStation store is down since Monday and a hacker group has taken responsibility for the attack.
On Monday, visitors to the site were surprised to be greeted with a message which read-“Page Not Found! It’s not you. It’s the internet’s fault”.
A little known group, called “Lizard Squad” has taken onus for the attack and posted “PSN Login #offline #LizardSquad” as their Twitter status. The hack attack is one more outage in a series of attacks on the Techno giant Sony.
Last month the Japanese company’s Hollywood film studios corporate network was hacked last month. It was followed by an online leak of unreleased movies, along with confidential information such as actors’ salaries. Sony Entertainment Network has tweeted that they are aware of the problems which users are having while connecting to its PlayStation network.
The company further tweeted at midnight GMT, “Thanks for your patience as we investigate,” The latest disruption comes just days after the PlayStation console celebrated its 20th anniversary last week.
Another gaming site, Microsoft Xbox network was hit by an outage which brought down the site for at least a day last week. The latest outage on Microsoft Xbox network was also claimed by the Lizard Squad. The Xbox network was hit by a DDOS, or a distributed denial of service attack which stopped users from getting online. The hacker group threatened that this is only a small dose of what was to come in the coming festive season.
The Lizard Squad has taken onus for the attacks which has in the past taken high profile targets like EA games and Destiny offline in the past. The Lizard Patrol has on the past been on Twitter and is a Russian based website.
