Hundreds of people attended the funeral of the Mississippi teen burned alive. The police have been tight lipped and have not talked about anything except the fact that they are still investigating.
Hundreds of mourners gathered in a small packed chapel. In Mississippi to bid farewell to a 19 year old teen who was burnt alive. The teen’s classmates also attended the funeral and used permanent markers to write their heartfelt messages on her white metal coffin.
Jessica as she was known was a highly popular cheerleader and her aerial acrobatics made everyone very thrilled, according to Rev. Eric Greggs, one of three speakers at the 45-minute service.
“Fly high, Jessica,” said some messages. Jessica graduated from the South Panola High last year and worked in sales at a Batesville clothing and gift shop. It was revealed that Chambers had asked Alabama Author, Linda Oliver to help her write a book on her life. According to Oliver from Birmingham, Chambers had recently approached her while she was packing up after a speech about her own book at an Oct. 25 church conference in the Batesville area.
Oliver said, “She thanked me for sharing some of the horrible facts of my own story” and then asked for help with hers. She said, `I want my story to be told.”‘
It is still unclear if it was an accident or something more sinister had happened to her. Rev. Larry Kilgore of Crowder Baptist Church did say that she talked with him about personal problems, but had a relationship with Christ.
Police are reconstructing the last few hours of Chambers life and has asked the public to come forward with any information on pertaining to her death. The police have offered a reward of $11,000 for any information pertaining to the issue.
