After many social media channels have redesigned their looks, it was time for Tumblr to reinvent itself through a new online service. Tumblr TV lets you share, view and edit GIFs both for blogging and for personal purposes.
Fans and bloggers were long waiting for a makeover on behalf of the social media channel, Tumblr. The service has somewhat fallen into oblivion, especially since Google and Facebook launched highly advanced face recognition technology for their photo apps at the beginning of the year.
Tumblr did not fail in meeting their fans’ expectations and now the company has announced that Tumblr TV is available for users who want to view GIFs all day long. The service enables customers to skim through zoomed in images; the share and edit features have been facilitated, as well, because the viewing mode renders these tasks a lot easier.
There are many options that users may select when it comes to the pictures they want to view. Based on the weblog post that the company published on Thursday, users can select a specific site or hashtag that they like and view the GIF files contained therein.
Moreover, they can create their own websites with the help of the URL tumblr.com/tv@yourblog. When a pic or a collection of images is not selected, Tumblr TV will simply play the most popular photos on the network until the user makes a specific selection.
The developing team admitted that they have worked three months to bring this new project to light. They have conceived it having just one goal in mind, that is, to offer bloggers and Tumblr users many sharing and viewing options.
Users, who find a particular picture interesting now have the possibility to like it or to share it on their blogs. However, the sharing options have been limited only to Tumblr pages, so customers won’t be able to share them on other websites. At least not for the moment.
Based on the feedback they have gathered from their users, Tumblr decided that its Tumblr TV service should also inform clients about the source of the GIF file. Thus, the respective piece of information will be displayed the moment the users clicks on the picture.
The company further disclosed that their website boasts a number of 112 billion posts per day. The majority of them are GIF files; therefore the new Tumblr TV service aims to make these image files more popular among Internet users.
