There are increasingly too many wires in your home, no matter how may wireless devices you have. So, an announcement that a new Samsung monitor will also charge your phone is bound to be nothing but good news, right? Let’s see what this is all about.
Although Samsung have denied any further comment on the device they are about to launch, it is pretty clear that the Korean tech giant is planning on focusing big on wireless charging. Their new Galaxy S6 is compatible with both systems available for this type of charging, so as to make sure that no matter what device you buy, it will work.
Its name is the SE370, and it’s probably the next big trend in wireless charging. After Microsoft/Nokia first popularized the cable free method a few years ago, it’s literally taken the smartphone market by assault. The only major phone company which has chosen not to explore this technology is, surprisingly, Apple. Although we can’t be sure what has justified this decision by company led by Tim Cook, it’s possible to speculate that the makers of the iPhone have something better in mind.
The cutest and most practical wireless charging dock up until now has undoubtedly been Microsoft’s Pillow Charger, which looks so nice you almost feel like you’re putting your phone to sleep in its own personalized bed. And that’s essentially what it looks like.
But, chances are that this new idea by Samsung will overpass the Microsoft one in practicality. Also, Samsung has a major advantage because of the popularity of its devices. Furthermore, the SE370 is also compatible with HTC and Sony smartphones, and probably all other devices which have the Qi Wireless Charging technology. Passing on to bigger hardware, the monitor is of course compatible with Mac OS and Windows 10, the new OS to be launched the day after tomorrow (if all goes according to plan).
And above everything else, just look at the picture. It looks like something straight out of Star Trek, does it not? Previous wireless charging docks, besides the aforementioned pillow and this monitor, looked like heating plates for your phones. They were, in true sense, aesthetically dull and unimaginative.
Yet this one looks and feels completely different. This is, undeniably, the future of wireless charging. I mean, why pay so much for just a wireless charging dock, when you can have a monitor added, increasing practicality and lowering the combined price.
With Ikea adding wireless charging furniture, Starbucks and McDonalds equipping their restaurants with wireless charging tables, it seems that more and more, this technology will continue to grow.
