A neighborhood in Los Angeles went through horror moments on Thursday evening after an electrical blast took place. Firefighters are investigating the scene to determine the cause of the incident, but the first researches indicate that the explosion was caused by a malfunction at one of the electric generators.
More than 160 firefighters rushed to put out the fire that started when the explosion took place. Unfortunately, nothing could be done to prevent the injuries that a man and a woman in the building have suffered. They were both taken to hospital, whereas other victims, who have suffered minor concussions have not been permanently hospitalized.
Based on the official declaration of Brian Humphrey, the spokesperson of the Los Angeles Fire Department, the electrical blast has caused all fire systems to become inoperable; hence, the fire break out.
He confirmed the media that four people have been injured in the incident, but reassured everyone that they were now in a stable condition due to the medical treatments they have received.
The unexpected blast produced various damages in the area, except for the power outage of the 19-story office building. According to the spokesman, several water pipes have been destroyed flooding the entire basement of the building. In spite all these damages, the structure of the edifice is still safe, so firefighters estimate that no other efforts will be requested for the safety of the inhabitants.
A nearby concert of country singer Shania Twain was cancelled as a result of the power outage in the Los Angeles neighborhood. The downtown edifice is home to offices, restaurants, bars and nightclubs, officials have added.
