The Lords of the Cinder are waiting

Bandai Namco Entertainment invites players to embrace the darkness with the latest Dark Souls III trailer that is filled with visually stunning scenes and intriguing story.

  • The cinematic trailer offers a glimpse into the next bleak world of the Dark Souls franchise
  • Dark Souls III is considered one of the most highly-anticipated games of 2016
  • The game will officially launch on April 12th, 2016
  • Dark Souls III will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC

The Dark Souls series does have a reputation to upkeep in keeping players on their toes. It’s one of their biggest traits and what makes the titles so exciting. Heading into the third installment of the franchise, it’s in the hopes of fans that this one will heal the slight disappointment of the sequel. While the expectations were high, it seemed that Dark Souls II just didn’t do it for most gamers.

However, perhaps Dark Souls III will help the series save face.

Bandai Namco just released a cinematic trailer that aims to “shed a tiny beam of light into the mystery of where and when Dark Souls III takes place”. There are a few hints in there that fans or those who are well in tune with the world’s lore, might understand. Talk of pilgrims heading north, learning the truth about the Old Worlds, and a few notable appearances that might clue us into the story.

The ominous voice speaks of the Lords of the Cinder being awakened, and we catch a glimpse of Aldrich, Sainta of the Deep, Farron’s Undead Legion, the Abyss Watchers, and one who most will recognize from previous trailers, Yhorm the Giant, lord of the capital. And from the trailer, he certainly lives up to his name. It looks like players might be facing the most sizeable opponent yet.

There have been a few choice giants within the Dark Souls franchise that looked impossible to beat. Yhorm might be dwarfing them all just by slight glimpse we’ve been offered into the sheer size. However, if there’s anything we’ve learned from the series, nothing is impossible even if it may look like it. You just have to try, fail, try again harder, keep failing and keep trying until it’s done.

According to the developers, Dark Souls III will also bring a beautiful mix between the familiar unique gameplay style of the franchise, with a new set of tools and skills to defeat the tough adversaries. They will be adding Skills to the mechanics, weapon modifiers for every blade, and several types of armor that will aid players in getting the tactical advantage. Each gamer will create their own style of play and test out their patience and skill in defeating the notoriously challenging game.

Dark Souls III will officially launch this year on April 12th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
