The customization features and pricing might mean that Android Wear is taking a step forward with the new ASUS ZenWatch 2 and ahead of their competition on the market.
- The ZenWatch 2 will be launched by Android Wear and produced by ASUS
- It will come in two sizes: 1.63 inch, and 1.45 inch in display
- The stainless steel colors are gunmetal, silver and rose gold
- The ZenWatch 2 is available for pre-order in the United States for $150, and in Europe for €150 (around $168)
- The smart watch will be up for sale in retail stores on October 9th
The new digital accessory produced by ASUS is compatible with most, if not all, Android devices to date. It’s now ready for pre-order and holds a few neat features, including an improved processor developer by the well renown tech firm.
ASUS has already made a name for itself for their PCs and excellent performing components. They’re now continuing their legacy of their high pedigree with Android devices.
The upcoming ZenWatch 2 will hold a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor underneath the stylish shape and multiple color variations. It will also present itself with 512MP of RAM, which promises fast responses and smooth navigation from one widget to the next. And for its decent price, it can be said that the capabilities are beyond satisfactory.
The smart device will arrive in two different sizes, with the screen available with a 1.63 inch or a 1.45 inch display. In spite of tradition of selling the bigger sizes for a larger price, the Android wearable will be selling both at the same price of $149. This will set the bar potentially higher for the competition. And, possibly, it will all just come down to taste.
The ZenWatch 2 has a simple and sleek design, that is reportedly available in 18 different combinations of color and material combos to suit every taste. The stainless steel colors offered are gunmetal, silver and rose gold.
Naturally, the smart watch will have its own set of apps, widgets and other software to individualize to needs or preferences of the user. It will support business apps to keep up with your appointments, as much as sport apps when out for a run. Furthermore, it will provide a flawless communication with Android and iOS devices, along with messaging between watches.
ASUS has also launched their ZenWatch FaceDesigner, which enabled a varied customization of the ZenWatch and the upcoming ZenWatch 2. It allows users to design their own watch faces, by providing pre-designed backgrounds, along with the option of making your own. It will also allow customization of text, clocks, colors and widgets.
The ZenWatch 2 presents itself with a simple design, decently performing software, and multiple features. However, it has the distinct advantage of below $200 pricing, which is more than can be said for its competitors like Samsung, Motorola or LG.
