Stool kept accumulating in his intestine for several years, so the patient needed to undergo an operation as quickly as possible. This congestion bulged his stomach and, as it kept swelling, put his life in danger and threatened to explode.
The bulging began when he was young, and resorted mainly to laxatives or other types of medicine to ease his bowel movements. However, he had to endure severe pain and, after many years of suffering, had finally decided to get medical assistance. The operation was performed at the 10th People Hospital in Shanghai, and was led by the expert surgeon Yin Lu.
During the procedure, doctors removed 30 inches of the bloated colon, which had an amazing weight of 28 pounds. Then, they found the abnormal formation was the result of many years of accumulation. In fact, the patient had reached a dangerous level of swelling, so a surgical intervention was required.
The surgery was a success, the patient’s state is now stable, and he is expected to start recovering soon. Doctors had stitched his colon from end to end, so he has now a normal and functional digestive system.
