Burger King is bringing back its beloved Fiery Chicken Fries and the restaurant chain promises that they will make you cry. Or more specifically, they will “make your mouth cry”.
Spicy foods are all the rage these days and we’re all better off because of it as a recent study has found that they reduce our risk of experiencing premature death, help us manage our blood pressure levels, and fight off everything from heart disease, to respiratory diseases, to obesity, to type 2 diabetes, to inflammations, to infections, and even cancer.
But if spicy chicken burgers and sandwiches simply aren’t enough for you, Burger King has now added spicy chicken fries to their menus, giving you more delicious, hot products to choose from.
Eric Hirschhorn, Burger King’s chief marketing officer in North America, gave a statement informing that the restaurant chain decided re-start selling the chicken fries after witnessing how much enthusiasm they generated on Twitter and Facebook last year.
He went on to add that it all started from a Buzzfeed post that made a lot of people on the internet talk about chicken fries in January 2014. The post was titled “35 Foods From Your Childhood That Are Extinct Now”, and the writer assigned number 24 to Burger King’s chicken fries, a product that the restaurant chain used to sell between the years of 2005 and 2012.
A few months after that, the company noticed even more posts about their “extinct” product after a One Direction member tweeted “I’m so fulllllll!!! Think I just ate my body weight in chicken fries and sides owwwwww”.
The message was retweeted more than 94.000 times and helped the food product reach “pop culture consciousness”, although Burger King is still not sure what the young fellow wanted to say as the company was a long way from re-commercializing chicken fries.
Fiery Chicken Fries are currently available for $3 a box, which gives you nine (9) pieces of black pepper and cayenne flavored chicken.
Hirschhorn also mentioned that customers generally buy them as an extra on the side, and many of them love the Fiery Chicken Fries because their “spicy as $#*!”, a fact that delighted the Burger King team as it made them realize that they “had found the perfect level of heat”.
