In spite of its past fiasco, Google Glass gets renamed as Project Aura. New employees come along as the tech giant adopts new strategies to revamp their 3D glasses and convince people to purchase them.
Google Glass were among the first smart accessories to arrive on the market. To the company’s dismay, the invention did not arouse customers’ curiosity and there have been few users, who actually gave the gadget a try.
Reviews were not favorable, but Google insisted that the concept of the Google Glass is brilliant and it should be continued. For this reason, they have renamed the product as Project Aura and enriched it with additional features to wash away some of the shame.
The following versions of the intelligent spectacles have not been more successful than the first prototype. By v3 the search giant decided it would be better to give a new purpose to its Google Glass project. Although the model has not been introduced to the public, developers have stated that Google Glass will become an enterprise-oriented project offering managerial support to business.
Project Aura is in keeping with this new direction, even though new features have been added. Google acknowledges the importance of augmented reality and the effects it could produce on industries and enterprises. To put it in other words, their new pairs of spectacles will no longer be used for entertainment purposes, but only for work-related activities.
Augmented reality could make work and education a lot more interactive. Students will assist live video presentations and reinvent the concept of books. According to Google, their Glass project could make business meetings and presentations a lot more attractive, allowing employees to communicate faster.
We can easily infer that Google is willing to pay more attention to their Project Aura from the fact that new employees have joined the team of developers. These are former Amazon workers, who have taken part in Amazon’s Fire Phone project.
While it may still be too early to draw such conclusions, the future technology behind Project Aura glasses could be inspired by Amazon’s phone. It should be interesting to see whether developers will continue the Dynamic Perspective technology. Thanks to it, users triggered various responses from the Fire Phone, based on the position and the hand movements they made with the device.
The same technology allowed users to quickly access phone files and carry out operations. Google did not say anything about the part that the new employees will play in the development of the phones, but chances are Project Aura will preserve most of its technical specs.
No word has been released yet about the price of the new glasses. The search giant did not say when the next launching is due to take place, either, but we assume is not going to be very soon. Google is already developing many projects, so we do not expect Project Aura to come to light sooner than 2016.
