Unfortunately, global warming started being categorized as a great impact on the environment. Nature is slowly dying because we, people, do not struggle enough to change something. We all think that individually there is nothing we can do because no one will listen to us. That is why we need to behave like a community because we are all citizens of the world. We cannot let the world die.
- Scientist revealed that a lot of species have altered their genes to adapt to new conditions brought by climate change.
- People are starting to suffer too because global warming affects many ecosystems.
A new study which was published in Science magazine has proved that every aspect of life on our planet has changed because of global warming. Entire ecosystems and animals’ genes have been altered. Brett Scheffers, who is an assistant professor in the department of wildlife, ecology, and conservation at the University of Florida, has argued that if the global temperature rises with one degree Celsius, then natural systems will be all affected by climate change.
Scheffers, who also is the lead author of the study, has argued that the physical features and the physiology of animals are changing, together with their genes to adapt to a warmer environment. Entire species are changing their ranges, many ecosystems being in a continuous altering process in response to global warming.
Many researchers from ten countries have revealed that 80% of the process which lies at the foundation of healthy marine, terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems have already developed responses to global warming. The coauthor of the study, James Watson of the University of Queensland, has asserted that there is no ecosystem which remained unharmed by the great impact of climate change.
According to this study, a significant part of the consequences that occur on ecosystems and species are also affecting humans. The consequences with which they have to deal are devastating. People will need to be able to fight against series of illnesses outbreaks and terrible pests. They will also face changes when thinking about agriculture where crops will decrease in productivity.
Scheffers has also stated that part of the results they receive when analyzing the great impact of climate change on nature helps him and his team solve the problems which people confront with regarding climate change. If scientists manage to understand the capacity of adapting to life, they will also be able to apply the principles to livestock, crops, and aquacultural species.
