Taking in the footsteps of other smartphone apps, Skype spices things up with their own version of Emojis. Starting with the following period, users will be able to add short GIFs from their favorite movies in their Skype conversation bars.
There are movies that make such a strong impact on us that we remember them forever. We often sense our feelings are best expressed when rendered through famous movie lines. They animate our conversations, they bring back funny memories that we share with our friends and dear ones.
Skype must know just how important movie lines are to us, which explains why the company has decided to introduce their own version of Emojis. These features are short animated GIFs taken from famous movies like, Bridesmaids, Despicable Me, Pitch Perfect, The Muppets and Jurassic Park.
The movie sequences will be available through an upgrade for Windows, Android, iOS and Mac apps. The first upgrade was effected on Android-based devices, but Skype users on other operating systems will get it as well in the following period.
Skype decided to introduce the new animated Mojis in an attempt to spice up conversations. They expect movie lines to produce the same effects as they do in real life conversations. Only this time, it will be the movie character uttering them, instead of one of your real-life friends.
The clips will be displayed on the bottom side of the Skype window and users can access them in the same way they do with regular emoticons. Additional information will be displayed along with the movie sequences. Users will see a link to the episode or the movie where the GIF was taken from as well as copyright details.
If they access the displayed links, users will be automatically directed towards Microsoft’s Store where they can download or purchase the films in exchange of a small fee. There will be other titles included in the Emojis collection besides the aforementioned movies, Skype has reassured users.
The v6.2 update for Android has been provided with new tools that facilitate the exchange of media files among users. The upgraded IM bar may be downloaded from Google Play.
