Fans of the developer or the franchise get a treat, as Telltale surprises with the second episode of ‘Minecraft: Story Mode’ with a much earlier release than expected.
- The second episode is called ‘Assembly Required’
- It released today, October 27th, only 2 weeks after the first episode, ‘The Order of the Stone’ was launched
- Also on October 27th, the ‘Season Pass Disc’ was made available for $30
- European gamers will have to wait three more days
Telltale games have grown in popularity within the past couple of years, by providing an excellent way of re-introducing strictly story-centered games into the community. They have adapted series such as ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘The Walking Dead’, ‘Tales from the Borderlands’, or ‘The Wolf Among Us’, all of which have been met with high praises.
Each game has a season (or two) containing a certain number of episodes that progresses the story. The catch has always been that two episodes are often months apart. However, it seems the game developer has just broken tradition. Their newest ‘Minecraft: Story Mode’ game arrived just two weeks after the launch of the first episode.
It’s the first time in recent history that the waiting time was so short for the gaming community. According to Telltales CEO and co-founder, Kevin Bruner, they have been “overjoyed” at the response from the community around the world. Now, they’re happy to introduce the second episode ‘Assembly Required’ sooner than anyone would’ve thought.
Two weeks is a nothing in terms of Telltale fans. Most of their other series have seen to long pauses and breaks between that kept the players waiting. Needless to say, the surprise has been a good one, because ‘Assembly Required’ is available today, October 27th, for download.
The series is available for virtually all platforms. The second episode has been released for the PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4. PlayStation Vita, Wii U, and mobile gamers will have to wait a little while longer.
The date of launch also coincides with the release of the physical copy of the game in North America. The ‘Season Pass Disc’ is available at retail stores, starting October 27th in United States, and October 30th in Europe. The disc will be available for $29.99 and will include the first episode of the videogame, ‘The Order of the Stone’.
Furthermore, by purchasing the physical copies, gamers will have the upcoming episodes available for download in the future when they’re released.
For now, it’s unknown if the two weeks that passed between the first two episodes will become a tradition for ‘Minecraft: Story Mode’. Perhaps Telltales will be releasing them all much faster than they have for any other of their franchises. Or, perhaps, it was meant to coincide with the ‘Season Pass Disc’, and it’s a one-time thing.
