Haier Asia just unveiled their newest product that will undoubtedly fascinate Star Wars fans. And they will all likely become dejected when the price will be revealed as well. The R2-D2 mini-fridge is a beautifully crafted replica of the beloved droid that aids multiple characters in the series. Ranging from a young Anakin Skywalker, to Luke Skywalker, and Obi-Wan Kenobi, it can said that the little droid was there to see it all.
The Japanese company will now bring you closer to feeling like a Jedi, or at least part of the sci-fi world that inspired countless products, stories, series, and videogames. It’s likely that most of us, no matter what generation, know the familiar beeps of R2-D2, whirling lights, and functionality. The mini-fridge has it all.
Along the fact that it’s a truly functional appliance, which properly chills drinks, the droid is also remote controlled. It will travel around your house, fetching you drinks and looking overall futuristic in its approach. It’s a world of sci-fi fantasy brought closer. And it’s a beautiful thing for any Star Wars fan to have.
Furthermore, the R2-D2 will feature more than just its original purpose. It will be WiFi enabled, and with a projector that would show movies through any Android device. That’s right. Just like it does throughout the series, the R2-D2 will project images for the user to view.
The tiny droid is undoubtedly a fan-favorite, along with its companion C-3PO, though no word has come out if the protocol droid would make an appearance. It would be the cherry on top of the cake, perhaps something to function as a personal assistant, like Siri or Cortana. However, those are probably just pipe dreams of a Star Wars fan.
In the meantime, those inclined toward collecting memorabilia, novelty products, or just want a travelling mini-fridge, the R2-D2 could add to your collection. Along with the adorable BB-8, it’s just one more to built up the hype for this year’s Star Wars season. And we’re truly getting a treat.
Unfortunately, not all may afford it. The R2-D2 will start shipping in December, and it will be for the steep price of over $8,200. But if you’re a huge fan of the series, and have exceptional funds to burn on memorabilia, it might just be the perfect Christmas gift for yourself.
‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, or the seventh installment of the popular franchise, will premiere on December 18th, and pre-sale tickets are already gone for the most part. It’s the most anticipated movie of the year, featuring returning performances from Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Leia), and Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker).
Before that, the new game, ‘Star Wars: Battlefront III’ will be released on November 17th, only adding to the sci-fi goodness of this year.
