The event is edging closer and rumors are still flying about possible products, with the freshest one surfacing from TechCrunch that Periscope will be coming to your Apple TV, and will allow you to view live-streaming directly from the comfort of your own home.
The company is expected to reveal the revamped edition of their new Apple TV tomorrow, and will definitely be met with disappointed fans should they not raise to the expectations. Rumors and ‘buzzes’ are flying all over, attempting to garner what sort of new features a potential television device will have.
The most popular belief seems to be that the Apple TV will have its own app store, for people to download their own choice of software, including games, which seems to be a popular choice for most. It has been heavily implied that casual gaming will be improved on the new Apple product and might even later on develop further into the market.
However, the newest rumor is that Twitter-owned live-streaming Periscope is developing its own app for the Apple TV, and will thus be one of the first third-party apps to hit the new product.
The platform has been acquired by social media giant, Twitter, for a reported $120 million and currently stands at an impressive 10 million subscribers. They have also stated that their users watch around 40 years of video content every day.
Its approach to the new Apple device could certainly benefit both, but it’s so far unclear if potential customers will be getting a preview at the presentation.
Furthermore, there have been no news of the revamped Apple TV to arrive with an incorporated camera at its front, so it’s highly possible that users will only have viewing privileges through Periscope, as opposed to actually streaming content from the device themselves.
Perhaps the larger size will draw more to plopping down on their living room couch and watching live streaming of certain events through Periscope, since Apple seems very adamant on expanding their product’s entertainment possibilities. It’s not just about movies anymore. Gaming and live streaming are apparently being tackled on the Apple TV.
Currently, Periscope users have to limit their watching live video-streaming on smartphones with Android or iOS, or on their official website, but it seems the popular platform will also be expanding with the new Apple product that is highly anticipated ahead of tomorrow’s event.
Perhaps potential users will be given a sneak peek, and maybe witness the hopeful addition of Siri on the Apple TV.
